El Gouna has hosted the third edition of the Red Sea International Fishing Championship under the umbrella of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), supervised by the Egyptian Federation for Sport Fishing, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The third edition brings together 17 teams representing nine countries: Egypt, Ukraine, Armenia, South Africa, Italy, the United States, the Sultanate of Oman, Switzerland, and Jordan — marking Jordan’s first participation in the championship’s history.
This year’s tournament builds on the remarkable success of the previous edition, during which Egyptian teams claimed the top three positions amid strong international competition, underscoring the professionalism and excellence of Egyptian anglers and their ability to compete with leading global teams in sport fishing.
The Red Sea International Fishing Championship is considered one of the largest fishing tournaments in the Middle East. The winning team earns direct qualification to the Fishing World Cup, scheduled to take place next year in Costa Rica.
The championship plays a direct role in promoting sports and marine tourism by attracting elite teams, participants, and visitors from around the world.
It also strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional hub and international destination for marine sports and coastal tourism, supported by its distinctive coastlines, advanced infrastructure, and accumulated organizational expertise — making El Gouna a premier venue for hosting major international marine sporting events.
