In a new milestone that reaffirms DP World Egypt’s leadership, the company has received the INDUSTRIAL SONG vessel arriving from the Port of Antwerp, Belgium, carrying two of the world’s most advanced mobile harbor cranes – the Konecranes ESP 08. This delivery comes as part of the company’s ongoing development strategy to expand Sokhna Port’s capacity and boost its operational efficiency.
The newly arrived cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 125 tons and a 54-meter boom, will be deployed at BGC Berth – Basin 1, enabling the port to handle larger volumes of cargo, accelerate daily operations, reduce vessel waiting times, and deliver a significant competitive edge in the regional logistics market.
This second batch of equipment—following the first received in 2024—highlights DP World Egypt’s long-term expansion strategy to accommodate forecasted growth in general cargo volumes, while continuing to attract regional and international customers amid the rapid increase in global trade.
Commenting on the occasion, Mohammad Shihab, CEO, Egypt, DP World, said:
“The arrival of these advanced cranes underlines our unwavering commitment to supporting the Egyptian government’s ambitious plans to modernize port infrastructure and position Egypt as a global logistics hub. Sokhna plays a vital role as a gateway for trade between East and West, and every new investment we make further strengthens our ability to meet the evolving needs of the market. These cranes will enhance our capacity and elevate the logistics services we provide, fully aligning with Egypt’s vision to make its ports the most efficient in the region.”
This achievement reinforces DP World Egypt’s role as a pivotal player in global supply chains, while supporting the Egyptian government’s development strategy to modernize port operations and drive sustainable growth in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
