Commenting on Methanex’s participation, Mohamed Shindy, Managing Director, said:
“EGYPES is always an excellent platform to reconnect with industry leaders and colleagues from around the world, reinforcing its status as the largest oil and gas event in Egypt and the region. This year, we look forward to sharing our vision for the future of Process Safety Management in partnership with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and how we can solidify it as a common practice and guide in the industry. EGYPES also provides an opportunity for Methanex to showcase our commitment to sustainability and the role methanol can play in the energy transition.”
Being Egypt’s sole Methanol producer and a key player in the industry, Methanex will highlight its successful partnerships within the country. The most prominent of these partnerships are with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, which led to the creation of a comprehensive three-year PSM roadmap, the establishment of the PSM Egyptian Steering Committee and Technical Sub-Committee and the development of 24 PSM standards and guidelines to enable the safe design, construction and operation of facilities working in the Egyptian oil, gas, and petrochemical sector. Other notable highlights will include Methanex’s ongoing partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO) since 2018 to support youth empowerment and the sustainable development journey of the Damietta community.
