beko, one of the leading home appliances brands in Egypt, has partnered with Misr El Kheir Foundation during the holy month of Ramadan to support the most vulnerable families in the Fashn district of Beni Suef Governorate. This collaboration underscores beko’s commitment to social responsibility by improving the quality of life for those in need.
Under the slogan “Ramadan Joy in Every Home – beko x Misr El Kheir,” beko provided refrigerators and stoves, which Misr El Kheir Foundation will distribute to 50 deserving families. This initiative reflects beko’s dedication to making a meaningful social impact by delivering tangible support to underprivileged households. Through this act of giving, beko reinforces its core values of generosity and ongoing commitment to supporting the Egyptian community.
Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Mohamad Hani Ghoneim, Beni Suef Governor, emphasized his full support for the collaboration between executive authorities and civil society to enhance the living standards of citizens and provide their basic needs. He praised the role of Misr El Kheir Foundation in driving development across all Egyptian governorates.
Mr. Ümit Günel, Regional Director of Beko North Africa, and General Manager of Beko Egypt stated: “Our goal with this initiative is to create a lasting, positive change in the lives of these families. By providing essential, high-quality, and energy-efficient home appliances, we are addressing their daily needs and significantly enhancing their living conditions. Specifically, these new refrigerators will allow families to store food safely, reducing waste and improving nutrition. This tangible benefit, along with the stoves, reflects our commitment to empower the community that we operate in and enhance their everyday comfort. Our partnership with Misr El Kheir Foundation is vital in achieving this.”
He added, “beko strongly believes in the power of supporting local communities, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Through our partnership with Misr El Kheir Foundation, we aim to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives by launching impactful charitable initiatives. We are not just providing appliances; we are investing in the well-being and future of these families. But our commitment goes beyond short-term actions—we are here for the long run, not only through our initiatives but also by contributing to local employment opportunities and Egypt’s economic growth through Beko’s factory in the 10th of Ramadan City.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohamed Refaie, the CEO of Misr El Kheir Foundation emphasized: “The foundation continues to alleviate burdens on deserving families and enhance their life quality. This is achieved by expanding the implementation of both developmental and charitable projects in various vital areas that fundamentally and daily affect the needs of the beneficiaries, true to Misr El Kheir’s motto “Human development is our primary mission.”
In the meantime, ENG. Amal Mobada, Head of Resource Development at Misr El Kheir Foundation, expressed her delight at the ongoing partnership with Beko Egypt, affirming that it significantly provides supports to those who need it the most. She highlighted the foundation’s eagerness to provide more opportunities for the deserving in collaboration with successful partners to achieve genuine development and meet sustainable development goals.
Notably, Beni Suef Governorate is among the most underprivileged in Egypt, ranking twelfth in poverty, with 32% of its population living below the poverty line. Within the governorate, El Fashn stands out as one of the most affected areas, with a poverty rate of 34.6%. Given these figures, there is an urgent need to improve the living conditions of vulnerable families.
It is worth noting that, beko has previously implemented several impactful social responsibility initiatives in Egypt. Last Ramadan, it participated in the “Al Manfaz” initiative, contributing in distribution of more than 50,000 food boxes to vulnerable groups across all governorates. This initiative highlights the importance of fostering community and development efforts to positively impact people’s lives in Egypt.
